E-Mail notifications not send

@patricken wrote:

Summary

Invitation links and notifications won´t be send via E-Mail

Steps to reproduce

Mattermost Version: 4.10.1
Database Schema Version: 4.10.0
Database: postgres

EmailSettings in config.json:
“EmailSettings”: {
“EnableSignUpWithEmail”: true,
“EnableSignInWithEmail”: true,
“EnableSignInWithUsername”: true,
“SendEmailNotifications”: true,
“UseChannelInEmailNotifications”: false,
“RequireEmailVerification”: false,
“FeedbackName”: “Gitlab”,
“FeedbackEmail”: "service@git.hot-sushi.com",
“FeedbackOrganization”: “”,
“EnableSMTPAuth”: true,
“SMTPUsername”: “###smtp-username###”,
“SMTPPassword”: “###smtp-password###”,
“SMTPServer”: “###smtp-server###”,
“SMTPPort”: “587”,
“ConnectionSecurity”: “TLS”,
“InviteSalt”: “###invite-salt###”,
“SendPushNotifications”: true,
“PushNotificationServer”: “”,
“PushNotificationContents”: “generic”,
“EnableEmailBatching”: false,
“EmailBatchingBufferSize”: 256,
“EmailBatchingInterval”: 30,
“SkipServerCertificateVerification”: false,
“EmailNotificationContentsType”: “full”,
“LoginButtonColor”: “”,
“LoginButtonBorderColor”: “”,
“LoginButtonTextColor”: “”
},

Expected behavior

As we would like to send E-Mails for invitation, we configured mattermost to use an external smtp server. After adding a recipient and filling in the name for the “send invitation” form, the form is send with the response “ok”, but we are not recieving any mails. I´ve replaced critical data within the provided settings array with ###somewhat###, just for clarification.

Observed behavior

The form for e.g. team invitation is submitted and gets the following response:
{“status”:“OK”}

Neither the external mail service nor our own smtp server at hot-sushi.com receives any mails to be send.

I would be pleased if you could take a look, thanks in advance!

With best regards,
Patrick Nußbaum

MM Server v5.1.0 Subpath Issue

@RbDev wrote:

we have discussed about implementing subpath support for MM to allow it to work with apache and proxypass.
It seems to me that the implementation deployed with v5.1 doesn’t do the job.
I see that the port assign to the server affects he site url. and I didnt find a documentation how to set it up.
Can we have a second look at it.

In a real scenario. apache handles the webserver port 80 and proxy pass to different applications using subpaths.
apache port 80 http://myserver
apache port 80 http://myserver/mattermost proxypass to MM http://myserver:8065

The second step is to get SSL working. Manage primarily by apache.

Why is that? Is it settings missing? is it a plug in required?

How to block quote or code quote an entire following chunk of text without additional markdown demarcation?

@ylluminate wrote:

Many of our users moving from HipChat to Mattermost are very frustrated with Mattermost in some minor ways, but they’re frustrating nonetheless. In particular they’re missing the /quote and /code functions that accept the entire following chunks of text (paragraphs, whatever with newlines).

Using `…` and ```…``` and > is really nice, but it’s not enough when dealing with large chunks of text where you don’t want to have to insert leading (on each newlines chunk) or ending delimiters.

Is there a way to already do this or can this feature be added for fuller joy for inbound HipChat users?

Could I be missing a Markdown key symbol that already does this?

FINAL Fix

Remove TLS from config.json

Summary

After running latest upgrade procedures that I have noticed it changed a bit from the previous versions…

Never had seen such a issue before this upgrade.

Other changes done were to replace platform with mattermost in mattermost.service

Steps to reproduce

Running on Centos 7, with MYSQL 5.7 and nginx Proxy 1.14.0
Using 5.1.0 and had previously version 5.0

Expected behavior

Mattermost must be accessible behind the proxy.

Observed behavior

Hello, before 1.10.0 version, the sensitive back button on android 7.0 (Samsung Galaxy S6) would “quit” the application but now in the 1.10.0 version there is no effect. It is a bit painful.

Is that normal or is it regression ?

MM iOS Client Locks

@RbDev wrote:

Hi,

I’ve noticed an issue with MM iOS Client v1.10.0

MM iOS Client freezes every time I try to open it and MM server is not available.

Some messages appear but the menu button and settings button don’t do anything.

The only way is to force close the app.

this could be related to the fact I’m messing around with the server settings.

In any case I think the client should display “connecting” or even going back to “connect to server” screen.

Cheers

Currently when a user scrolls up they have to click “Load more messages.” How can this be set to automatically load more in an auto-pager fashion similar to HipChat? Or set it such that when a user get’s close to the cutoff of history, it just automatically starts loading more repeatedly?

Mattermost Notification Drawer

$

@ylluminate wrote:

Mattermost offers a fantastic way to organize all of your teams and channels, but the notification system leaves much to be desired when you’re involved in a lot of chats in the system. It also seems that we can’t really rely entirely on OS notification systems either to stay organized and up-to-date on inbound messages.

It would be extremely helpful to have a drawer or dock that can be pinned on the side that would show notifications in the system so that one can visually find mentions and general chat in your rooms if you want to be notified.

For example, you could pin it on the upper far right and it could slide out from the right. It would have the oldest notifications on the top and the newest on the bottom. When a user would click on a notification it would take them immediately to the chat of interest and then the notification item on the stack or list would then go away since you’ve achieved focus on the event / chat.

This could make very quick work of finding replying quickly to your colleagues vs allowing things to go unnoticed as one can be currently prone to do.

If anyone is interested in this and would like some mockups and such. Please let me know. We may also be willing to implement this ourselves. I’d just like to start off with some thoughts here first before digging in.

Custom Emoji or Emoticon Details?

@ylluminate wrote:

What are the optimal dimensions for custom emoji in Mattermost? I’m finding that even using # to enlarge some, it’s still not quite large enough from what users are used to in other chat systems.

Is there a way to configure the server to make custom emoji and emoticons larger by default and then of course the # could make them even larger?

HipChat Importation

@ylluminate wrote:

We found that the HipChat migration import documentation was faulty… The Mattermost-ETL framework just simply does not import HipChat. We discovered this after chatting with the ETL developers.

We went ahead and implemented our own HipChat importation tool so that we can import things in a piecemeal fashion: hipmost -v --path . "HipChat Room Name" "Mattermost Team":"Channel Name"

This will handle both the importation of HipChat Rooms & People (1-to-1) chats. It does NOT perform the importation itself - it just creates a data file that one can then import via the mattermost CLI.

Any interest in this?

We are trying to use our E10 server as an OAuth2 provider for user access to our JetBrains suite of tools. The current Mattermost OAuth2 configuration is not exactly well documented and there isn’t much in the way of being able to find the mappings required for proper use. JetBrains has an OAuth2 requestor configuration and it requires the URLs for Token, UserData and Email. Also we need to know the mappings for the various fields and the scope.

I believe I saw a ticket open requesting further documentation of the endpoints, is this something that is in progress?

Thanks for your time.

Hello! I am building a /remind slash command integration clone of slack’s same thing.

One of the features of command is /remind list which lists out your reminders with various options to delete, snooze, complete, etc. This was accomplished via interactive action buttons in response attachments.

Note, this works fine when displaying the ephermeral version (outside a user peronsal channel). This fails when running the command in the personal channel (the non-ephemeral version).

How can we increase the count of attachments in a response? Can it be unbounded? A very high number? Something higher or variable/adjustable more than 10?
